Sri Lanka, Nov. 10 -- A 41-year-old man has died following an accident during a soft-ball cricket match held at the Aluthepola Public Ground in Minuwangoda today (09), police said.
The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. when two players collided while attempting to catch a high ball. One of them sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Minuwangoda Base Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Ihalage Dhanushka Devinda Perera, a resident of Katuwallegama, Palugahawela. The other player was reportedly uninjured.
The body has been transferred to the Gampaha Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Minuwangoda Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
