Srilanka, July 1 -- The National Transport Commission (NTC) has suspended the scheduled 2.5% reduction in bus fares, which was due to take effect today. The decision comes in response to a sudden increase in fuel prices by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
Auto diesel prices were raised by Rs. 15 last night, prompting the NTC to reassess the current fare structure.
"The previously announced 2.5% fare reduction will not be implemented today. A revised fare structure will be announced later today after reviewing the impact of fuel price changes," an NTC spokesperson stated.
