Srilanka, March 25 -- The recent crash of a Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) training aircraft was attributed to pilot error, Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Rathnayake said, addressing reporters on Sunday (23), during an observation visit to a Central Expressway construction site.
He stated that Air Force Commander Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe formed a special investigation committee to examine the incident and that he had received a copy of their report.
The investigation concluded that the aircraft and its engines were in good condition prior to the crash, the Minister said.
He noted that such incidents occur worldwide and expressed relief that the two pilots involved escaped without serious injuries.
