Sri Lanka, Dec. 15 -- The Wildlife Conservation Department has temporarily closed Pigeon Island National Park to visitors due to rough sea conditions and unfavorable weather following the onset of the monsoon.
According to R.P.S. Udapooruwa, the Park Warden, the issuance of permits to access the island is also temporarily suspended until conditions improve.
The unpredictable nature of the seas and weather during this period makes it impossible to determine safe days for entry, prompting the precautionary closure.
The department emphasized that the closure is a safety measure for both visitors and the preservation of the island's wildlife.
