India, Dec. 1 -- The Public Health Inspectors Association has warned residents in flood-affected areas to exercise caution when using drinking water.

Secretary Chamil Muthukuda advised people to avoid consuming well water in these areas and to drink boiled water whenever possible due to a high risk of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea.

He emphasized that young children should be given only boiled water.

He also highlighted the increased risk of mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and chikungunya, as flood conditions can create mosquito breeding grounds around homes.

Residents are urged to take preventive measures to eliminate mosquito breeding sites while cleaning their houses.
