Srilanka, May 14 -- Sri Lanka Public Health Inspector's Association Secretary Chamil Muthukuda said yesterday (13) that steps had been taken to suspend eight dansela's on Vesak Poya Day for not following proper health and safety procedures.

He also mentioned that permission was granted to operate 17 more Dansela's after they agreed to follow necessary health measures and instructions.

He said as a Dansela serves food to a large number of people if the served food is unfit for human consumption, many people could suffer from illnesses such as diarrhoea.

He stated that more than 8,750 Dansela's across the country had been registered for Vesak Poya and that all Dansels would be supervised by public health inspectors.
