Srilanka, April 21 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that although the people supported the National People's Power (NPP) alliance in two consecutive elections believing that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and a Government under the NPP would bring relief to all citizens, the eventual outcome has reflected disappointment due to unfulfilled promises, misinformation, and confusion.

Speaking at a public gathering in Medirigiriya yesterday (20), Premadasa explained that despite the promises made in the Malimawa policy statement of creating a prosperous country and ensuring a better quality of life, what people are experiencing today is a country burdened with broken promises and growing public discontent.
