Sri Lanka, July 13 -- Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (12) said that a new SLPP government will amend the Constitution if it has to and hold the Provincial Council election.

The new SLPP Government will not hesitate to hold the Provincial Council election even under the First-Past-the-Post (FPP) electoral system to avoid further delays. The Prime Minister made this observation at a meeting held in Padukka yesterday evening.

PM Rajapaksa also said that this is the first time in political history that an Opposition is not requesting the public to vote for them to establish a government. The Premier also noted that every government led by him secured the democratic rights of the citizens.
