Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- Former Sri Lanka captain and Royal College flanker Pavithra Fernando was elected President of Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) for the 2025-2027 term at the long-overdue Annual General Meeting held at the Duncan White Auditorium of the Sports Ministry in Colombo yesterday.
Fernando, 45, returns to lead the sport's top body after four years, marking a significant comeback for the former CR & FC captain who guided his club to Clifford Cup glory in 2006 after a 17-year wait. His election is seen as a fresh start for the game, which has faced administrative challenges in recent years.
