Srilanka, Feb. 20 -- The Immigration and Emigration Department Battaramulla has commenced operations for issuing passports at night from yesterday (19), the Public Security Ministry said.

In a bid to facilitate the process, a special bus service will now operate from Pettah to Battaramulla to aid those seeking to obtain passports.

The Ministry reported that 4,000 passports will be issued daily at the Battaramulla office, and this limit had even exceeded on the first day.

To complement this initiative, full-time security is being provided. The Ministry revealed that plans are in motion to open a new Passport Office in Jaffna next month, further enhancing accessibility and convenience for the public.
