Sri Lanka, Oct. 8 -- Deputy Sports Minister Sugath Thilakaratne stated in Parliament yesterday that doping is a huge barrier for naturally talented athletes and is driven by the desire for economic gain and athletic success.

The Deputy Minister made his remarks during the Second Reading debate on the Convention Against Doping in Sport (Amendment) Bill.

"We are introducing this Bill to ensure clean sports," Deputy Minister Thilakarathne said, explaining that the relevant institutions are working under strict rules and regulations to pass the law, which will serve as a guiding framework for all athletes.
