Sri Lanka, April 2 -- Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said in Parliament yesterday that the steps will be taken to fill most of the vacancies prevailing in the school system of the Western Province after the April New Year vacation.

Around 2,400 graduates that passed the teaching examination have already been recruited and the rest will be required after the New Year vacation.

Responding to the allegation by the Opposition Leader claiming that 40,000 graduates are unemployed, the Minister said that 2,700 graduates have already been selected to teach subjects such as science and technology.
