Sri Lanka, Dec. 5 -- The third reading of the 2026 Appropriation Bill, marking the 80th Budget Speech, is scheduled to take place today (05) at 6 p.m., according to the Parliament's Department of Communication.

The second reading of the 2026 Budget was presented to Parliament on November 7, 2025, by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Minister of Finance. It was approved by a majority on November 14, 2025, with 160 MPs voting in favour, 42 against, and 8 abstaining.

Although 17 days were set aside for the third reading debate, proceedings were repeatedly adjourned due to adverse weather conditions.
