Sri Lanka, Nov. 4 -- Over one billion rupees have been transacted through 'GovPay', the digital payment system introduced to streamline government services in Sri Lanka.

According to the Ministry of Digital Economy, as of yesterday (03), transactions totaling Rs. 1,001,469,008 have been completed through 40,920 transactions, with 200 government institutions now connected to the platform.

GovPay serves as a secure and user-friendly online platform enabling citizens and businesses to make payments for a wide range of government services - including taxes, fines, utility bills, education fees, and other service charges - via banks and digital wallets.
