Sri Lanka, Oct. 24 -- Deputy Defence Minister Major General (Retd.) Aruna Jayasekara told Parliament yesterday that over 700 acres of land in the Northern and Eastern Provinces have been returned to the public this year (2025).
He said that a total of 672.24 acres of land have been returned to the people in the North from January 01, 2025 to date.
The Deputy Minister said that these lands include 86.24 acres of private land and 586 acres of land that was used and occupied previously by the military.
He pointed out that 34.58 acres of Government lands have also been released in the Eastern Province alone.
