Sri Lanka, Oct. 8 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama yesterday (7) that more than 7,000 out of the 10,000 gold items that were sent to the National Gem and Jewellery Authority on Court orders after being taken into custody by the Army during the humanitarian operation in the North and East have been placed in the custody of the Central Bank.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the court of this by submitting a further report in accordance with the Magistrate's order to weigh the ten thousand (10,000) gold items and submit a detailed report with copies to his court and the CID regarding the amount and weight of the gold contained therein.
