Sri Lanka, May 4 -- Several people including schoolchildren were injured in a head-on collision between two buses travelling on the Akkaraipattu - Ampara Road yesterday (3) afternoon at around 1.45 pm. The Police Media Division told the Daily News

that a school bus carrying children after school which was travelling from Ampara to Damana was hit head-on by a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus which was travelling towards Ampara from the opposite direction.

Twenty-five schoolchildren in the school bus, the two bus drivers, and five other passengers in the SLTB were injured.

There were no deaths reported and the injured were admitted to the Ampara District General Hospital and are undergoing treatment.
