Srilanka, June 30 -- The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has received over 2,000 complaints in the first five months of 2025, reflecting growing public concern and vigilance over corruption.
From January 1 to May 31, a total of 2,138 new complaints were lodged with the Commission. Including pending complaints carried over from 2024, the total number of cases currently under the Commission's purview stands at 2,221.
Of these, 224 complaints have been approved for formal investigation, while 524 were dismissed due to lack of evidence or irrelevance to the Bribery Act. Another 282 complaints have been referred to other relevant institutions for follow-up.
