Srilanka, March 6 -- As of March 5, the Election Commission reports that 3 political parties and 19 independent groups have deposited funds for the upcoming local government elections.

The deposits cover the districts of Kandy, Colombo, Gampaha, Ratnapura, and Ampara.

Deposit collection began on March 3 and will run until March 19, with exceptions on March 8, 9, 13, 15, and 16, when deposits will not be accepted.
