India, Dec. 1 -- The District Disaster Management Unit says that 103 deaths have been reported in 20 Divisional Secretariat Divisions of the Kandy District due to the disaster situation caused by heavy rains.

The number of missing persons is 180. According to the report issued by the District Disaster Management Unit yesterday (30), 40,821 people belonging to 11,129 families in 20 Divisional Secretariat Divisions have been affected.

Out of 6874 displaced families, 21500 people belonging to 4,764 families have been shifted to relief camps. The report states that 2849 houses have been partially damaged and 400 houses have been completely damaged.
