Srilanka, April 1 -- Transport and Highways Deputy Minister Dr. Prasanna Gunasena has revealed that 1,640 employees who were recruited as drivers and conductors to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) are currently engaged in other unrelated duties.

He stated that all of them have been instructed to be re-assigned to their original driver and conductor job roles with immediate effect.

The announcement was made during the Kandy District Coordinating Committee meeting held recently at the Kandy District Secretariat Auditorium.
