Order on preliminary objections fixed for May 31
Sri Lanka, May 4 -- The case filed against five accused, including former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, for causing loss of Rs. 1,843, 267,595 to the government by purchasing Treasury Bills from Greece during that country's financial crisis in 2012, was yesterday fixed for delivery of order regarding the preliminary objections, on May 31, by the Colombo High Court.
When the case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Adithya Patabendige, the defence appearing for the accused raised a preliminary objection stating that the charges cannot be pursued against their clients further.
