Sri Lanka, Sept. 21 -- Former Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera on Saturday said people have punished those who were in the Yahapalana government twice as they failed to deal with mass scale fraudsters.

He said that the former government wanted to catch those who were allegedly involved in mass scale corruption and financial malpractices though they dealt with those involved in petty corruption.

Samaraweera was testifying before the Commission on Saturday.

'The former government succeeded in netting only sprats not sharks," he said. Samaraweera when cross examined by the lawyers said that he was not aware of an Anti-Corruption Committee.
