Sri Lanka, Nov. 20 -- Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala debunked a report appearing in a daily paper which said that in addition to the Grama Niladhari certificate, a certificate from the Public Security Committee chairman of the relevant Grama Niladhari Division is required to obtain Police reports. Minister Wijepala said this was a false statement and no such advisory or circular has been issued by the Police or the Public Security Ministry directing as such.
Minister Wijepala informed Parliament that he hopes to file a complaint with the Parliamentary Privileges Committee on Thursday (20) regarding the false news item.
