Srilanka, March 5 -- Labour Minister and Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando told Parliament yesterday that steps will be taken by the Government to tax Online Casinos that are presently exempted from paying income tax of 15 percent imposed on locals engaged in online jobs for foreign countries.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dr. Harsha de Silva questioned the Deputy Finance and Planning Minister during the 2025 Committee Stage Budget Debate as to why Online Casinos are not paying any taxes to the Government for the massive income they earn through online gambling when the Government has decided to tax 15 percent on those who are doing online jobs.
