Sri Lanka, Oct. 31 -- Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) confirmed yesterday that A Division clubs will be allowed to include foreign players in the upcoming 2025-2026 season, marking a major move to boost competition and fan interest.

Each club will be permitted to field one foreign player this season across League, Knockout, and Sevens tournaments, the SLR Executive Committee announced.

The plan to allow two foreign players per club will take effect from the 2026-2027 season, giving clubs time to plan budgets and preparations.
