Sri Lanka, Nov. 24 -- One person has died and three others were injured after a large tree fell onto a three-wheeler traveling along the Rambukkana-Mawanella road in Thalagolla last night (23).

The accident occurred around 9.20 p.m., trapping four passengers, including a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, under the vehicle. Local residents, with assistance from police, rescued the victims and rushed them to Mawanella Base Hospital.

The driver of the three-wheeler, a 37-year-old man, later succumbed to his injuries. The three injured passengers-a 57-year-old man, a 48-year-old woman, and the young girl-remain hospitalized and are receiving treatment. All three are residents of the Lollegoda area in Mawanella.
