Sri Lanka, March 22 -- Parliament passed the maiden budget of the National People's Power Government yesterday with a majority of 114 votes with no amendments
A total of 159 MPs voted for the Bill while 45 voted against it. There was no abstention. Twenty MPs were not present in the Chamber when the vote was taken.
MPs from the NPP voted for the Appropriation Bill 2025 while the main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and SLPP voted against it.
Sri Lanka Labour Party MP K. Kader Masthan also voted for the Budget.
The vote on the Third Reading of the Budget for the financial year 2025 took place at 7.45 pm yesterday following the President's speech.
