Srilanka, March 31 -- Northern Province Governor N. Vethanayahan instructed Local Government officials to take immediate legal action against illegal constructions, including unauthorised structures encroaching on drainage canals.

Local authorities requested Police support in enforcing these actions. They highlighted that some developers deliberately completed construction during weekends or holidays to evade legal notices. In response, the Police assured that if informed in a timely manner, they could take legal action against such violations.
