Sri Lanka, Dec. 10 -- The Ministry of Education has extended the deadline for admission to Grade 6 in 2026 based on the re-scrutinized results of the 2025 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, in view of the ongoing disaster situation.

The original deadline for submitting online applications was December 5, 2025. The Ministry revised the date to December 12, 2025, to ensure that students affected by the recent disaster have adequate time to complete their applications.

Officials also clarified that the first round of appeals for Grade 6 admission has not yet started. Any messages circulating on social media claiming that appeal submissions are open are false and misleading, the Ministry warned.
