Sri Lanka, Nov. 25 -- Several transmission development projects have been prioritized under the Ceylon Electricity Board's Long-Term Transmission Plan 2025-2034.

Among these, the Norochcholai-Wariyapola Transmission Development Project has been identified as a key initiative to maximize the use of renewable energy in the Wayamba/North Western region.

The North Western region is estimated to have over 750 MW of renewable energy potential.

The proposed project aims to establish a main transmission network that consolidates fluctuating renewable energy sources, integrates them into the national grid, and reduces surcharge congestion by efficiently transmitting electricity generated in the surrounding Puttlam area.
