Srilanka, June 11 -- The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has assured the public that there is no immediate threat of a new COVID-19 variant spreading in Sri Lanka and urged against unnecessary panic.

According to Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry, data from the Epidemiology Division confirms that current surveillance does not indicate any increase in COVID-19 infections nationwide. He emphasized that while regional media reports have noted rising cases in some Asian countries, Sri Lanka has not observed a similar trend.
