Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- Mass Media Minister Dr.Nalinda Jayatissa said there is currently no satellite registered under Sri Lanka's name in the records of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations agency responsible for the global coordination of information and communication technologies.
During a Cabinet Press Briefing held yesterday (12), he explained that the ITU follows a three-stage process for launching a satellite. The first stage involves submitting the technical details of the planned satellite network. The second stage requires co-ordination with other member states to prevent interference.
