Srilanka, July 23 -- Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe confirmed today (23) that neither the government nor the Central Bank has taken any decision to restrict vehicle imports.Speaking at a press conference held at the Central Bank to announce the latest Monetary Policy Statement, Dr. Weerasinghe addressed speculation in recent media reports suggesting that authorities were considering re-imposing import restrictions.
"The Central Bank has not discussed any restriction on vehicle imports," he said in response to a question from a Journalist.
"The vehicle market that has been opened will remain open. As far as I know, the government has no intention of changing that policy. I don't believe the Minister would announce any change ...
