Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the Court of Appeal today (12) that no decision has yet been made regarding the arrest of former Minister Udaya Gammanpila.
The writ petition filed by Gammanpila, seeking an order to prevent his arrest under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act, was taken up before the Court of Appeal this morning.
Deputy Solicitor General Sudarshana de Silva, representing the CID, told the court that while investigations are still ongoing, no decision has been taken to arrest the petitioner at this stage. He further noted that a final decision will be made after the completion of inquiries.
