Sri Lanka, July 2 -- The National Livestock Development Board (NLDB) officially relaunched Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) liquid milk production today, marking a significant step toward revitalizing the state-run dairy industry.
The event was held at the NLDB premises in Narahenpita, where a new 1-litre UHT milk pack was also unveiled.
The NLDB, which has served the public for decades, experienced a decline due to past political decisions that led to neglect of key public institutions. The current efforts aim to restore its services and strengthen the local dairy sector.
Restarting UHT milk production is both a symbolic and practical move to reduce reliance on imported milk while supporting local dairy farmers.
