Sri Lanka, Nov. 18 -- Political interference over the past 10 years has caused the National Lotteries Board (NLB) a loss of nearly Rs. 33 million, NLB Chairman M.D.C.A. Perera said yesterday.

The Chairman announced that the NLB would take action this week to file complaints under the Public Property Act and the Anti-Corruption Act against all individuals responsible for these losses.

Perera made these remarks at a media briefing held yesterday (17) at the Government Information Department.

He stated that the NLB spent Rs. 6.8 million on former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's election campaign during the 2015 Presidential Election. The Board is now pursuing legal action to recover these funds.
