Sri Lanka, Jan. 17 -- The newly-constructed paediatric ward complex of the Tangalle Base Hospital was recently opened by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the ward complex has been constructed at a cost of Rs.300 million. The complex has three floors. Its construction commenced in 2014, but was not completed during the previous regime.

The construction was completed and the complex opened within one-and-a-half months after the current government came to power. The project had been delayed for six years.

The Health Ministry has provided two infant Incubators, two ECUs, 10 multi-parameter monitors, six pulse oximeters, and two defibrillators-all worth Rs.8 million, he said.
