Sri Lanka, March 11 -- Vocational Education Deputy Minister Nalin Hewage told Parliament yesterday that there will be a special exam for students in Grade 9 enabling them to determine whether they want to opt for higher education or pursue vocational careers.
The National People's Power Government is ready to carry out the biggest educational revolution in Sri Lanka's history, he said.
"Today, a number of children leaving school do not take up vocational education. Normally, there should be 4,727 students in vocational training, but now there are only 2,585. There are two reasons why children are not directed to vocational education.
