Sri Lanka, Jan. 14 -- The Government has decided to defer the implementation of the proposed education reforms related to Grade 6 until 2027, Cabinet Spokesman and Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said. The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting held under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in view of concerns surrounding the Grade 6 English module and several related issues.

Addressing the weekly Cabinet media briefing, Dr. Jayatissa said the decision to postpone the Grade 6 reforms follows the findings of investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department and the Education Ministry into the controversial English module.
