Sri Lanka, April 24 -- An estimated 300,000 devotees were seen in queues yesterday (23) in Kandy, awaiting their turn to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic, according to a headcount conducted by the Central Province Chapter of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka.

On Tuesday (22), around 65,000 devotees had already paid their homage to the Sacred Relic, Kandy District Secretary Indika Udawatta confirmed. Organisers noted that by yesterday afternoon, a crowd nearly equivalent to what is expected over four full days had already gathered.
