Sri Lanka, Dec. 9 -- The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has identified approximately 15,000 landslide-prone areas across Sri Lanka, and nearly 5,000 families living in these areas have already been resettled.
Dr. Wasantha Senadheera, Senior Geologist at NBRO, emphasized that residents in high-risk zones must evacuate immediately to ensure their safety.
The organization further announced that red alert evacuation notices issued yesterday (08) at 4 pm for 41 Divisional Secretariat Divisions across 4 districts will continue to be enforced.
Meanwhile, 31 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in 5 districts remain under Stage 2 risk, and 19 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in 4 additional districts are under Phase 1 alert.
