Sri Lanka, Dec. 10 -- The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has clarified that landslide early warnings are issued based on weather forecasts from the Meteorology Department and real-time data collected from automated rain gauges in landslide-prone areas.
According to the NBRO, these warnings are valid for a 24-hour period and are updated in response to changes in rainfall. They are issued at a regional level to protect residents living in identified landslide-risk zones and near vulnerable slopes.
