Sri Lanka, Dec. 5 -- The operation, conducted by SLNS Wasaba of the Northern Naval Command, identified nine suspicious sacks floating in the area.

Upon inspection, the sacks were found to contain approximately 1,600,000 foreign cigarettes, 150 packs of cosmetic products, and 10 wristwatches, suspected to have been smuggled into the country.

Authorities believe the consignment may have been abandoned at sea due to the Navy's intensified surveillance against illegal maritime activities in the region. The seized items were handed over to Delft Police for further legal action.
