Sri Lanka, April 3 -- The Sri Lanka Navy teamed up with the Rotaract Informatics Institute of Technology (RIIT) to plant 1,000 mangrove plants at Urani Lagoon, Pottuvil recently, in a step toward environmental conservation.
The project aligned with the broader 'Clean Sri Lanka' programme aimed at promoting ecological sustainability. Mangroves play a vital role in safeguarding coastal communities from erosion, improving marine habitats, and combating climate change.
