Sri Lanka, Feb. 7 -- The Sri Lanka Navy brought ashore an ill fisherman who was in critical condition aboard a local multiday fishing trawler, south of the island about 43 nautical miles (79km) off Galle. Upon being brought ashore, he was transferred to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for medical attention yesterday (06).
The multi-day fishing trawler, 'Sadue Putha 04', with 6 crew members, set off from the Wennappuwa fisheries harbour on January 2. One of the crew members became critically ill when the trawler was about 43 nautical miles (79 km) off Galle. The Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, alerted the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Colombo, located at Navy Headquarters, and requested assistance.
