Srilanka, May 26 -- With the arrival of the southwest monsoon, health authorities have warned of a potential rise in dengue cases. In response, the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, under the direction of Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, launched a week-long nationwide mosquito control campaign from May 19 to 24.
The program, carried out in collaboration with the National Dengue Control Unit and initiated by the Ministry Secretary, Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe, targeted 95 Health Medical Officer divisions across 15 districts.
A total of 128,824 premises were inspected, including:
119,677 homes
257 schools and 304 other educational institutions
789 government offices
5,025 private businesses
700 construction sites
