Srilanka, March 26 -- The Health and Media Ministry has launched the National Medicinal Plant Cultivation Project and Medicinal Plant Collection Programme with the intention of reducing dependency on imports, enhancing the quality of locally produced medicines and strengthening the economy by promoting medicinal plant cultivation.

As part of this project, the official launch of the development programme for medicinal gardens under the Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation will take place at the Randenigama Medicinal Garden in Nikaweratiya, Kurunegala District today (26) at 10 a.m.

This initiative is being implemented under the guidance of Health and Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.
