Srilanka, March 6 -- Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, announced today (06) that the National Media Policy will be unveiled in June.

Speaking during a Parliament debate on the Ministry's budget, he revealed that Rs. 5.2 billion has been allocated this year for the Government Information Department, Lake House, Television, Radio, and the Government Press.

Additionally, Dr. Jayatissa confirmed that the Presidential Media Awards Ceremony, which was canceled for the past two years, will be held this year.

He also stated that a chartered institution for journalists will be established as part of efforts to further develop the media sector.
