Srilanka, June 12 -- The National Animal Census conducted on March 15 has officially released its findings today (June 12) at the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the report, Sri Lanka is home to approximately:
5.71 million elephants
1.74 million monkeys
4.24 million peacocks
2.26 million pheasants
Director of Agriculture Hemantha Amarasinghe stated that the census cost approximately Rs. 2.7 million. The census aimed to provide accurate data to support wildlife management and environmental policy-making.
